About The Artist, Karen Sleigh:

I am a trained artist in numerous mediums and art has been an important part of my life. It takes me to a special place I almost cannot describe, yet what comes out of that place is a creation of simplicity over complexity. In reflection, this duality is a reoccurring theme in all of my art.

The technique is complicated in theory and design, objects appear, yet overall the whole piece has an effortless appeal. This is demonstrated in adding layers of paint and removing portions to reveal a whimsical painting. Or the intricacy of glass art in it’s piecing together a finely cut puzzle to produce a simple window or glass collage. It can be as complex as painting in a unique collaborative art group with two other women making intertwining art that as a whole creates one simple painting.

These all fuse what takes me to that special place where my eyes see, my heart drives my hands to create…one simple complexity at a time.
